Year 6 held a theme day on Thursday 7th September to introduce their topic, ‘A Child’s War’. During the day the children dressed up in costumes of the era and took part in a variety of activities. These included making gas mask boxes, baking ‘no carrot cookies’ as a result of rationing and playing traditional street games such as hopscotch, skipping and rolling hoops.
Following this we then had a visitor who survived the war and enjoyed telling us about his experiences and sharing a great breath of knowledge.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and look forward to learning more about life as a child during world war 2.
