The grand finale of Year 6’s project on ‘A Child’s War’ was their express event for their families. It was wonderful to see so many of you there; we really value your support. The children started the afternoon as they were in a cattle auction waiting to be taken to their new temporary home. Following this the Evacuees and their new family took part in different activities: clay medals, planning a victory garden, planning a VE party, creating an Anderson shelter and preparing for a party. There was a great variety of work produced and I am sure you will agree the children did a brilliant job. It was lovely to see them sharing their work with such enthusiasm and confidence. The afternoon ended with the announcement on the wireless that Germany had surrendered and war was over…A street was held and the children were put on the first train back home!
